Missions & extraction
DarkSwarm is an extraction shooter at heart: run contracts for the Valstorm corporation on lost colonial worlds, recover resources and data, then get the squad out alive. This section maps the loop as the studio has described it.
DarkSwarm runs on extraction structure: every mission is a contract for Valstorm, a private military corporation, on worlds it has already written off. The framing is corporate-dystopian and the copy plays it straight down to the gallows humor.
Deploy
A squad of 1–4 bioprinted mercenaries drops into a procedurally generated colonial facility under orbital direction from mission commander Sara.
Objective
Run the Valstorm contract: recover resources and data from the overrun facility. Stealth, hacking and destructible environments open more than one route to the objective.
Extract
One way out. The swarm does not negotiate — fight the squad back to extraction or leave everything behind. Whatever happened here, someone still expects a return on their investment.
Environments & systems
Missions play out in procedurally generated facilities on lost colonial worlds. The studio lists special vision modes, lighting and destructible environments among the systems that shape each run:
- Procedurally generated colonial facilities
- Special vision modes and lighting
- Destructible environments
- Stealth and hacking routes
